We Fell For Foreclosure Scam
Hope Alliance Masquerading As Conn. Nonprofit, AG Says
ROCKY HILL, Conn. — Two local women said two companies offering similar foreclosure services have nearly identical forms and applications, but one is free the other isn’t — and only one of them is legitimate.
“Now I’m 41/2 months behind in my mortgage because they told me not to make payments at all,” resident Lisa Gilmore said.
Gilmore said she and her best friend, Stefanie Plank have been scammed out of a combined $3,000 by the mortgage rescue company Hope Alliance.
“I’ve had a lot of sleepless nights, trust destroyed, house is now in foreclosure, traumatized kids over this, but we won’t be silent victims,” Plank said.
