NY Senate Republicans propose budget alternative
ALBANY, N.Y. – The Republican minority in New York‘s Senate proposed Thursday an alternative state budget for the upcoming fiscal year that would include $4.2 billion in spending cuts pitched by Gov. David Paterson and slice an additional $1.3 billion.
The Republicans would also omit Paterson’s new tax proposals, while retaining $1.7 billion in local property tax rebates the Democrat wants to end, as well as some business benefits the governor proposed cutting for low-cost power and Empire Zone tax breaks.
